Atty. Patrick S. Sylvester is an estate planning and probate attorney who practices law in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida. He helps clients achieve their goals related to the management, protection and distribution of their assets. Atty. Sylvester concentrates his legal practice primarily in the areas of Wills, Trusts, Advanced Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, Estate Planning for Special Needs, Vacation Home Planning for Multiple Generations, Probate, Trust Administration and Trust & Estate Controversies.
Atty. Sylvester earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and his Juris Doctor (Law) degree from Hamline University School of Law – Minnesota.
Prior to forming Sylvester Law Firm, Atty. Sylvester served as an estate planning and probate attorney at law firms in Wilmette, IL and Madison, WI. He also served as a Vice President & Trust Officer for a Chicago bank and trust company, and prior to that he served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey D. Thompson of Minnesota’s Third Judicial District. Preceding the study and practice of law, Atty. Sylvester was an educator, having taught economics, political science and history at an Arizona college preparatory boarding school for young men.
As a multi-state estate planning and probate lawyer, Atty. Sylvester represents individuals, families and business owners in northern Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida. He has taken and passed the bar exams in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida, and is licensed to practice law in each of those states.
Atty. Sylvester is recognized by attorneys, CPAs, trust officers, bankers, insurance professionals, brokers and the financial planning community as being an authority on the use of wills, trusts, advanced estate planning tools, and estate planning for special needs. He is an active member of the Illinois Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and the Greater North Shore Estate & Financial Planning Council.
Atty. Sylvester is Of Counsel to a law firm in Stuart, Florida. He handles the firm's estate planning, probate and trust & estate litigation cases.
When not practicing law, Atty. Sylvester likes to play golf, read books, write, and spend time with his nephew and nieces. He is also an active member of Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth, Illinois.
